The Beginning of Freelancing

I started writing as a freelancer after I graduated from college. I wrote first for oDesk, which I do not recommend. Even though the company was easy to use, the prices were very low and there were too many people bidding for mediocre jobs. Also, some of the editors for these jobs were very picky with what they like and did not like about my writing. It was also difficult to contact some of the clients who posted job openings on oDesk. One job I got I later had to quit because I could not contact the client. It started off great, I had a good price and the work did not seem difficult. I spoke with Jan over Skype and she told me everything I had to do. *Jan told me to email her in a few weeks so I could start working. I waited and then emailed her. I did not get a response, so I tried contacting her again a couple of weeks later.

She finally got back to me and told me that she was very busy. This was her side job and her other job had gotten in the way. Jan said she would email me when her schedule cleared up so we could get started. However, after a while she did not email me and I was starting to think she would never get back to me. After waiting about two months, I went into my oDesk account and stopped the job. Yes, oDesk lets you keep jobs that you accepted open until you close them. I told the women why I was stopping the job and have not heard any thing since then. I also found other decent clients who later dropped me because my work did not fit their standards. Unfortunately, I recently got an email saying oDesk closed my account due to negative comments left by clients I wrote for. I was upset but happy about this email. I have not found any decent work on oDesk and actually have not visited the site in at least a month. I tried to find out if I could get my account back and learned that once oDesk closed the account, there was nothing I could do. Oh well. I knew there would be another writing opportunity soon.
